This week we take a look at the XR line of irons from Callaway Golf. We all roll our eyes when we hear golf companies claim more ball speed and more distance, so we decided to put the XR to the test versus the previous two generations of X series irons. Our testing on our Foresight Launch monitor showed a ball speed increase of 3 to 4 miles an hour over the X Hot and X2 Hot. That can mean up to a 6 to 10 yardage gain in carry distance.  
The XR line features two cavity back irons; the more forgiving, higher launching XR and the lower launching, smaller profile XR Pro. The line features the 360 Face Cup Technology that was introduced in the fall with the 2014 Big Bertha Iron. Face Cup 360 allows for better control of face thickness during manufacturing and that leads to more ball speed on both center and off center hits.
