Myths About Golf Equipment

 f
 fan Myths about Golf Equipment:

The longer the length of my driver,
the farther I will hit it.

Time and time again, we find golfers who struggle with their driver are 1) inconsistent with their ball striking and 2) usually have a negative attack angle. One shot in the middle of the club face, one time on the toe, next time on the heel and maybe even one on the top or bottom of the face for good measure. When I grew up playing golf, the average driver length was 43″ while today’s modern drivers are typically 45.5″ off the rack. Why is that? Because most (not all) of today’s equipment companies are in a battle to help you hit the ball farther than you ever have.

But the length of your driver can lead to poor performance. If it is too long, it will contribute to you hitting down on the ball and/or reduce your ball speed caused by off-center hits. Our fitting experience tells us the golfer who consistently finds the center of the club face will have the best marriage of distance and accuracy. Isn’t that what you want to do? Oh, and by the way, did you know that most tour players play a driver 44.5″-45″?

Here’s the Formula for Success:

-Critical driver metrics are ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate.
-To maximize ball speed, you must find the center of the driver face on a consistent basis.
-To maximize distance, you must find the optimum launch and spin using a positive attack angle.
