TAYLORMADE RSi IRONS
This week we take a look at the TaylorMade RSi series of irons. Often when new products come out the first question out of the customer’s mouth is HOW IS THIS CLUB DIFFERENT FROM MY CURRENT CLUB? TaylorMade has been utilizing speed pocket technology for a number of years by placing a polymer filled slot in the sole of the 3-7 irons to maximize forgiveness on shots missed low on the face. This latest introduction will add Face Slot technology in the 3-8 irons that will bring that forgiveness to the heel and toe that results in more ball speed on off-center hits.
The RSi 1 is a larger more forgiving cast iron that features a longer blade, more off-set and a wider sole. It is designed for the mid to high handicapper looking for max performance on off-center hits and retails for $799.00 in stock steel and $899.00 for stock graphite. Our initial RSi 1 testing results are showing increased distance and higher ball flights when compared to other irons in this category.
The RSi 2 is designed for the low to mid handicapper looking for controlled trajectory and traditional sound and feel. It features a smaller blade, less off-set and a thinner sole. The materials used to cast the 8-PW are softer than the long and mid irons and feature a forged carbon steel face insert. The AW and SW are fully forged carbon steel and the set retails for $999.00 in stock steel. The fitting clubs have hit the store and we will be happy to help you determine if the new RSi irons are the right fit for your game.
