Titleist AP1 and AP2

This week we take a look at the new AP line for 2014 from Titleist. The long irons have a lower CG for increased launch while the short irons have a thicker face to lower the launch. The 2014 cosmetic changes include a beveled leading edge for better turf interaction and satin finish to reduce glare. The AP2 is a two piece forged iron that will appeal to the low to mid handicapper looking for enhanced feel and distance control. The AP1 is a cast iron that targets the mid to high handicapper looking for forgiveness on off center hits. Golfers looking for the best of both worlds might consider a blended set that would include the long irons in the AP1 and the mid and short irons of the AP2. We have already had two custom fittings that resulted in that set make up. Zach Johnson uses the AP1 4 iron and then the AP2 5-PW on the PGA Tour.
